Roy is a mix engineer, producer and vocal specialist based on the UK's south coast, offering vocal production, mixing and tutoring backed by over 30 years of industry experience.

Working from a 32 I/O Pro Tools - Apogee system in a dedicated production room, Roy brings the same engineering values honed across three decades in some of the UK's most respected studios to every project, whatever the style or scale.

Roy holds a Masters in the Production of Popular Music from Kingston University, aswell as mixing and mastering professionally he now lectures and mentors with ThinkSpace Education (online masters degree) and The Ivors Academy. He has priviously tutored at Bournemouth Academy of Modern Music (BAMM) and guest lectured at Bristol dBs, Bournemouth and Plymouth Universities.

A career built in the studio

Roy started assisting in 1991 at Hot Nights Studios in Fulham, London, learning studio etiquette from ex-CBS engineer Graham Dixon and producer Grant Mitchell. After 18 months he followed studio manager Sarah Partridge to Berwick St Studios in Soho, where he learnt his programming and engineering skills, focussing mainly on urban music.

In 1995 he moved to Jamaica with the same company, recording and mixing two albums for their in-house label and also worked with UK and US artists and producers as the commercial studio engineer. From there he spent three months at Mystic Studios in NYC before returning to the UK.

In 1997 Roy began working with Emily Taylor (Home Management) as a freelance engineer, then in 1999 became in-house engineer at the Dairy Studios in Brixton. Now, with credits contributing to around 10 million record sales and over a billion streams, he works completely independently writing, producing and engineering with a wide range of artists and producers across many styles.
